How it works
One design drives everything. The 3D preview, the cutting list and the price all read the same panel set, so what you see is what gets machined.
1. Design to the millimetre
Pick a furniture type and set its external width, height and depth. Add bays, shelves, doors and drawer banks. Everything below the interface is in millimetres, with no exceptions — there is no unit conversion anywhere to round your dimensions away.
Some limits are enforced rather than suggested. An 18mm shelf visibly sags past about 900mm, so a unit that gets too wide grows a bay instead of quietly producing something that will bow in a year.
2. A real cutting list
Every panel comes out with its finished length and width, its material, and edge banding recorded per edge — L1, L2, W1 and W2 — because a workshop needs to know which edges show, not just how many metres of tape to charge for. Identical panels roll up into a single line with a quantity.
Banding thicknesses follow what the machines actually run: 0.4mm prep tape, 0.6mm veneer, and 1 or 2mm ABS or solid wood.
3. Machining and hardware
Hinge cups, shelf-peg lines, cam-and-dowel joints and pockets are placed on the panels themselves, so they travel with the cut list rather than as a note in an email. The operation set matches what cut-to-size shops offer, so nothing on a Sizewood drawing is something a machine cannot do.
4. Exports
- XLSX — the cutting-list workbook in the schema cut-to-size suppliers already import.
- CSV — the same rows, for anything that reads a spreadsheet.
- DXF — nested sheet geometry with the machining, for the CNC.
Exports are free and need no account. Suppliers are configuration, not code, so a second workshop with different limits is a data change rather than a rewrite.
5. Pricing
The price breaks down into material area, edge banding, hardware and cutting, and updates on every change. One caveat worth stating plainly: it currently bills the board area a design consumes rather than whole sheets, so a quote can be optimistic by up to a sheet until sheet-level nesting lands.
